Popular flavours which are commonly asked for are vanilla, chocolate and lemon. However, I enjoy playing around with different flavours. Recently, I have frosted cakes with lychee flavoured buttercream as well as a beer flavoured chocolate ganache, which made for an interesting twist. So please feel free to ask if you want something a bit more out of the ordinary, I will see what I can do to accommodate your request.
Most cakes (excluding wedding cakes) are collected from my home in Sandy, Bedfordshire. Depending on my availibility on your required date, I can sometimes accommodate delivery for orders over £100.00 and within a 30 mile radius of SG19. For wedding cakes, I do offer delivery and set up at the venue as standard. Delivery is charged by the mile at a current rate of 60p per mile.
I currently do not offer allergen / free from cakes. This is because I cannot 100% guarantee that there would not be trace amounts present, due to the environment my cakes are made in and the equipment used does handle allergens, as well as some of the ingredients used also may contain trace amounts.
On my terms and conditions, I do advise that those with severe allergies and intorlences to dairy, gluten and nuts do not consume my cakes.
Unless specified, all my cakes contain gluten, butter and eggs.
For wedding cakes, if you want real flowers I will always recommend you acquire these through your chosen florist and I am happy to place these on your cake at the venue on the day of your wedding. This allows for continuity with your other flowers. I will always want to liaise with your florist in advance to the wedding so I can do my own due diligence to ensure the flowers being used are food safe and are handled in a safe way.
For all other cakes, I prefer to use artifical or sugar paste flowers. I currently do not have the capacity to look after real flowers myself, which is why I limit the use of real flowers to wedding cakes only when supplied by the wedding florist.
Previously, flowers have been able to be placed on a cake as long as the stems are wrapped to create a barrier to avoid toxcins transferring on to the cake. As of this year (2024), The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has introduced legislation about what flowers can and cannot be used on cakes which are made for consumption. This is a list of some (but not limited to) flowers that are not recommended; Lilies, Eucalyptus, Mistletoe, Gypsophila, English Yew, Daffodils, Foxglove, Poppy, Rhododendron, Delphiniums, Hydrangea and Ranunculus.
For wedding cakes, as standard I will always send you a cake tasting box once your booking is confirmed with me and is included within the price for your cake.
For all other cakes, or if you wish to try some flavours before confirming your wedding cake with me, there is a current charge of £25.00 for this to be sent out to you. This will include four flavours which tend to be the most requested flavours (e.g. vanilla, chocolate, lemon). If you have any particular flavour requests let me know. Some flavours such as pink champagne or other alcoholic based flavourings may come at an additional cost.
I currently do not offer in person tastings.
I do have some cake stands available for hire at an additional cost. The ones I currently have come with a hire fee of £15.00. On top of the hire fee, a security deposit is required. This deposit is fully refundable on return of the stand to me as set out in my terms and conditions.
Many wedding venues have their own cake stands, so it is always worth checking with them if they can provide one for you,
Popular characters such as those from Disney, Bluey, Peppa Pig, Marvel characters, etc are copyrighted. You require permission from the licence holder to sell these types of cakes, often at the cost of thousands of pounds. So ultimately, no I do not do character cakes. This also applies to other copyrighted art such as that of football clubs, fashion brands, etc.
In this instance, I can offer to make a cake for you, and you can add your own character toppers / figurines to the cake after it has left my possession.
